Great park with plenty of activities for the kids. Would have liked to see more educational information about conservation and what the zoo does yo look after the animals though.
Fabulous place for a family day out. The animals look really well cared for
Lovely zoo. Surprisingly big. Friendly staff. Sam's talk at the otters, meerkats and giraffes was really good. Nice hot chocolate in the cafe too! Spent a good few hours and even had a trip on the land train.
Went there today to renew our annual passes - we used to live a lot closer but now we are closer to Banham Zoo, however you get both parks in your annual ticket cost so it's good value. My son is now 3 so we paid for his annual pass too (40 not bad value for a year). Africa Alive has some great Animals - Rhino, Lions, Giraffe, birds and of course lots of Lemurs!!! The park is well laid out and easy to walk around to get all the children's 'stamps'. The central section is a large open area with some of the Africa Animals - such as Rhino and Giraffe - out on the plains. It's lovely to see and you get a good view.Food wise the cafe is a little small at the entrance and although stocks a lot of produce - they do children's and adults meals hot and cold as well as a selection of drinks. There is another cafe further up the park which does have again food (smaller selection) but also has far more selection of cakes etc. Lastly children's play - there is a good park area of swings, see-saws and climbing frames not to far from the entrance as well as then a good indoor soft play area next to the flamingos. The last time we went this was looking a bit sorry for itself and lots was broken or a bit dirty, but it was good to see today the place has been given a bit of a face lift and everything is now working well and looks clean. My son really enjoyed this - however I can imagine it may get very busy (and hot!) in school holidays. Overall I would say it's a good place to visit for either a day trip or if you live locally consider a pass. We really enjoyed it as a family of three and will be back to enjoy seeing all the animals and of course playing on the soft play/park!
We visited today and loved the spacious enclosures. The animal talks were well presented and interesting and Gave close up views of the animals. We really enjoyed the interactive aardvark experience too. A really good day out
