Inconsistent and unprofessional!!! In 2014 I took a business proposal to a committee meeting of Godric cycle club to ascertain whether a deal could be drawn out to include a Cycle Recycle logo on our club jerseys to enhance advertisement and regional awareness of the business. Although an agreement could not be reached at the time there was significant interest from many club level riders to upgrade their bikes existing componentry with the incredible offers available through online retailers. Due to the limited and dated nature of Matt's stock options most of his parts are incompatible with todays modern road and mountain bikes. Matt turned down this idea despite the financial benefits of charging an hourly labour rate. A very poor business decision under the circumstances.In addition I actively encouraged Matt to organise a regular Monday night recovery ride to get more people involved in cycling and again enhance local awareness of his business. For a very short period this idea was reluctantly explored before being abandoned after a few short weeks.Hitherto I thought I always had a good relationship with the company owner Matt, often enjoying and exchanging banter with one another. Which we had built up over the course of four years of consistent interactions.Today 21/09/2016, I traveled seven miles to see if he had any bikes suitable for my fiancee. Upon arrival 13:35 the store was closed as this was the lunch period clearly stated on his business hours. Which is fair enough as everyone is entitled to a break. I waited 25 minutes browsing Kessingland High Street.Just after 14:00 I entered the now open store to the old familiar sound of the front door bell. Matt appeared from the rear of the store where I gave a very friendly "hello mush", an old Romany expression for my old friend. This was a very sincere greeting and absolutely harmless in my opinion. No offence was intended as this was meant as a term of endearment not uncommon in cycling culture. I genuinely enquired how he was and looked forward to catching up but received no reply. He asked how he could help. I explained "I was looking for a replacement bike for my fiancee as hers was beyond economical repair". Matt asked "what my budget was". I kindly replied that "I had no budget but would happily spend out on the right bike". He duly stated that he had "very little stock". To which I playfully agreed and mentioned that "yes I could see that". However, it use to be the case that he could source new bikes direct from dealers.Matt proceeded to tell me that 'he wished that I wouldn't come into his shop anymore'. Genuinely confused, I asked why. He responded by saying that "I called him Mush (agreed) and that I hadn't seen him in months". Which is valid seen as I was involved in a serious car accident in February and couldn't cycle for five months which Matt was well aware of as he had fractured his own collar bone from an unrelated incident. Moreover, in earlier 2015 I relocated from Kessingland to North Lowestoft but still maintained contact. He then proceeded to rant about coming to his bike shop and how I shouldn't offer observations on matters I know little about. A little abrupt but ok. He then stormed off into the back.I stuck around for a few moments in an attempt to make very genuine attempts to find out what the matter was and reconcile if there was a misunderstanding or breakdown in communication. No hope of that. Not only I was played for a fool by thinking we had a rapport and friendship. I genuinely tried to help promote his business and this is the thanks I got.Que Sera. If you are looking for a bike shop that offers services akin to that of Cycle Recycle I would strongly recommend Dunx in Lowestoft. Alternatively for servicing and wheel building HCW run by Dan in Lowestoft is renowned for great workmanship. Honestly if Matt believes it is acceptable to conduct himself in this manner either personally or professionally then much like his shop name his business will be resigned to the recycling bin before long.

It's not often that a business shines in the way that CycleRecycle does. The owner is an understated chap, who turned out to have been formerly a very serious racer, and clearly he has a glowing passion for cycling and bikes in general. He is a local man, completely affable and a very pleasant guy to chat to. He does most of the servicing himself, and I was very confident as I left our two cycles with him that he'd do a thoroughly good job on the '42 point service', - which is exactly what he did. I'm delighted with the results, and also he charged a very fair price. It's excellent to be able to book your timeslot online, and I can't recommend his servicing highly enough. He sells everything you'd ever need, too, from brand new bikes to reconditioned pedals! - so you don't have to go to an anonymous retail chain and get ripped off ever again. Excellent, thank you very much for a great job.
Recently took my bike in for a service as the gears weren't shifting properly. Didn't resolve the problem in fact he made it worse, charging me 20 for the privilege.Took my bike elsewhere and now works as it should.Would not recommend!
What a brilliant place! Matt is passionate about what he does, and he quickly found the perfect bike for our daughter. Very knowledgeable and professional. Highly rated. He also gave us a fair price for the bikes we part exchanged.
